Monsters cut through this place like a scythe, leaving little but rubble. The walls are covered with long fang scratches, as if the monsters tried to eat the actual town.";
= "All of the books that were here have been partially or wholly devoured by the alien beasts. You find nothing useful.";
= "This house is filled with the stink of death. The floor is covered with filth and claw marks. A den of beasts has been living here for some time.";
= "You enter the ruins of the town of Manara. It is littered with the skeletons of the fallen. However, you are surprised to note that many of the skeletons were alien beasts, coated with a thin layer of goo. In the middle of town, you see a lot of massive creatures skulking about.";
= "You enter the ruined town of Ovdipur. The alien beasts have attacked the buildings with their usual vicious thoroughness. A few, though not many, of the creatures are around.";
= "Miraculously, one of the books on the bookshelf is still intact. It's a rather old prayer book. Fortunately, you're able to translate two of the prayers inside. You learn the spells Firewalk and Cleanse.";

= "Once, there were stacks of books on these shelves. Now there's lots of shredded paper. The beasts thoroughly masticated this part of the library.";
= "You hear loud howls. Sets of massive, clawed feet drum across the dead soil, heading toward you. The noise comes from all around. The beasts that destroyed Footracer Province are apparently cunning enough to set up a decent ambush.";
= "When abandoning these towns, Empire wizards set several traps, designed to ensnare and slay some of the marauding beasts. The beasts have been cunning enough to avoid the snares. You were not.";
= "You step on a tiny symbol, too small to notice. It flashes brightly. Suddenly, from all directions, you hear the sounds of roaring flames and screaming beasts. A hot wave of sulphurous wind hits you. This town is now a very unsafe place to be.";
= "Wyvern Pass was a small mining town, and this building was meant to store the efforts of its people's labors. The humans are gone, but, pleasingly, some of the loot remains.";
= "You find a small port town, far, far out in the wilds of Valorim. It looks, on the surface, like it's been abandoned. Nobody is walking around, and everything is eerily quiet. Maybe this town was abandoned. There is a strange, sweet smell in the air.";
= "You pass around and drink the wine. It is excellent stuff, dark and rich. You only drink a little, to keep your senses from being dulled. As the strange fanged creatures appear, however, you immediately begin to feel weak and groggy ...";

= "This shop has been abandoned. Everything of value has been stripped away. There is an odd, sweet smell in the air. You can't immediately place it.";
= "You open the door, and come face to face with a strange creature. It's humanoid, about your size, but has the head and claws of a tiger. Alerted, you look around. There are suddenly several of the creatures in here with you. They've been here all along!";

= "Something horrible happened in this room. Everything has been torn up. Blood was spilled, and though some attempt was made to clean it up, you can still see small specks of it on everything. The air is thick with the stink of death.";
